Steps to Help Move Away From Sugar

According to research, sugar can be as addictive as any other drug.
There are steps that you can take to help you step away from a sugar addiction.
Here is a good way to start:
- Look at the artificial sugar in your diet - things like aspartame, Splenda, Sweet and Low. These things are just that - artificial and they hold no nutritional value, plus studies have shown that they create a lot of other health issues, like migraines, brain fog, lethargy, just to name a few.
- Trade your soft drinks for other non-sugar beverages like water and unsweetened green tea, club soda or seltzer water.
- Increase your fruit intake. Fruit contains natural sugars and you can usually only eat a serving or two to satisfy your sweet tooth.
- Eat more whole foods and cut down on pre-packaged/processed foods. Most pre-packaged/processed foods contain sugar.
- When you do eat sugar, try to stay within the recommended levels of no more than 10 teaspoons per day, as recommended by the USDA.
When making changes to your diet, especially a big change like cutting down on addictive sugar, take baby steps, and don't change everything at once. Small steps over time accomplish big results.
